One of the first places on the body to show significant signs of aging is the neck. The skin sags, fat deposits sink down from the face and vertical muscle bands become more prominent. At Enhance® Medical Center, we see many patients who would like to rejuvenate their neck. Fortunately, we offer several procedures that can make dramatic improvements to the neckline, including:
ThermiTight is a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to heat deeper layers of skin. Once warmed, this skin tissue contracts and shrinks. The loose skin firms up quickly, and the results improve in the weeks following the treatment as the skin further tightens thanks to additional collagen production.
With thread lift, Dr. Lee uses medical-grade thread to meticulously lift and tighten loose skin without the need for surgery. Though it is most often used as an alternative to facelift, it is effective at tightening excess neck skin and fat. The thread dissolves over time, but the results last about a year.
Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to gently heat deep layers of the skin. This heat pushes the body to produce new collagen, which in turn tightens the skin around the neck in the ensuing months. Though the results are comparable to thread lift, this procedure is completely non-invasive and requires no downtime.
Injectable treatments also do a great job of improving the aesthetics of the neck. Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport are effective at tightening the muscles near the jawline to pull the neck skin tauter. They also can help to tighten the skin around the platysmal bands for a less prominent appearance. Dermal fillers with hyaluronic acid, particularly Belotero, have success at tackling creases in neck skin by adding volume.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing can improve the texture and tone of skin, including on the neck. Sunspots and other irregularities in pigmentation (which can age the face) are evened out when the outer layer of the skin is removed. Plus, the laser stimulates collagen production, which helps to simultaneously firm up the skin.
The best surgical option is a facelift. Facelift surgery incorporates elements of neck lift, though patients who are primarily concerned with the neck can request to have the surgery limited to that area. Facelift involves lifting and tightening skin and muscle, removing excess skin and pulling the remaining skin tighter for a smoother, rejuvenated appearance. Although the recovery period is more substantial than it is for non-invasive treatments, the results last much longer than these non-surgical options.
