What is Vivace Microneedling Treatment?
At Enhance® Medical Center, Dr. Charles S. Lee and our world-class team of skin care experts aim to treat your skin at all levels so you can enjoy a healthier and more youthful complexion for years to come. We are pleased to offer Vivace, an FDA-approved non-surgical treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency, two of the most effective methods for treating skin and aging problems. Safe and effective for all skin types, Vivace stimulates collagen production to tighten the skin while addressing an array of skin concerns including wrinkles, fine lines, large pores and acne scars.
Enhance® Medical Center invites you to learn more about how Vivace can help you achieve dramatic, rejuvenating results with little discomfort and downtime.
How Does Vivace Work?
Vivace combines targeted microneedling with radiofrequency to treat skin at its deepest layers (the dermis). The Vivace system consists of a handheld device with multiple guarded gold needles that offer a more comfortable patient experience than other microneedling systems. The device is placed over the targeted area and the radiofrequency energy feature is activated to heat the deep layers of the skin. The head’s multiple needles create tiny puncture wounds deep in the dermis layer to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. The result is healthier, firmer and younger-looking skin.
Treatment with Vivace takes approximately one hour to complete, depending on the treatment size. Results can be seen almost immediately after treatment and will gradually improve over time. For optimal results, most patients need three to six sessions spread approximately four weeks apart.
To ensure maximum comfort, the patient’s skin is numbed prior to treatment. There is little downtime with Vivace; patients can return to work and other normal activities almost immediately after treatment. The treated area may appear flushed or red after treatment, but this will subside within a few hours. Patients should avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight in the hours after treatment.
What Are the Benefits of Vivace?
Vivace offers a number of benefits, including:
- Comfortable, minimally invasive treatment
- Personalized results (needle depth can be adjusted to deliver the desired level of correction for each patient)
- Less downtime than conventional microneedling
- Safe and effective for all skin types
What Can Vivace Microneedling Treat?
Vivace can be used on almost all areas of the face and body. It can be used to treat:
- Acne and acne scarring
- Lax, sagging skin
- Large pores
- Poor skin tone and texture
How Does Vivace Differ From Conventional Microneedling?
While Vivace and microneedling are both designed to smooth the face and body by increasing collagen, the procedures differ in several ways. Vivace offers a series of guarded needles, which makes treatment virtually painless, providing a more comfortable patient experience than traditional microneedling. This feature also helps minimize downtime. In addition, microneedling with Vivace offers more dramatic results, thanks to the additional usage of radiofrequency energy to increase collagen production and further tighten the skin. Finally, results with Vivace are visible immediately and continue to improve over time while results of microneedling can take up to two months to become visible.
Candidates for Vivace Microneedling
Vivace microneedling is a good option for individuals who are self-conscious of mild to moderate signs of aging or other problems affecting their skin’s tone and texture. It works well on all skin types, including tanned or dark skin. Candidates should not have any active skin infections or lesions in the target area at the time of treatment.
Vivace patients should refrain from applying makeup for 24 hours after treatment, wash with warm (not hot) water and avoid using alcohol-based toners for at least two weeks. Patients can return to most of their normal activities almost immediately, as long as they refrain from any strenuous activities for the first 48 to 72 hours after treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions About Microneedling
Is at-home microneedling as effective as Vivace?
No. At-home microneedling is ineffective and potentially risky to the health and appearance of the skin. The needles on at-home devices are so small that they generally do not make any noticeable difference. If at-home devices are not properly used, they can injure the skin and even lead to unwanted changes in the skin’s pigmentation.
Leave your microneedling treatment to the professionals at Enhance® Medical Center. We have the skill and experience needed to safely deliver noticeable results.
How can Vivace meet my personal skin care needs?
Vivace is a highly customizable skin treatment. Our Beverly Hills microneedling team can adjust the size, depth and flexibility of the needles as needed to address your desired issues. Once we have examined your skin and understand what you hope to achieve from treatment, we will choose the optimal settings for your skin type and goals.
How does Vivace compare to other professional microneedling devices?
Unlike standard microneedling devices, Vivace harnesses the power of radiofrequency energy to improve the skin from the inside out. The radiofrequency produces a heat response that accelerates the production of new collagen and tightens the skin.
Is Vivace microneedling treatment painful?
No. We will numb your skin prior to treatment, so you should not feel any pain. Some of our patients have reported feeling only a warm sensation during treatment, with the occasional pinching sensation.
How will my skin look and feel after a microneedling session?
Your treated skin may look slightly pink or red and have mild swelling for about 24 hours after treatment. Some of our patients have mentioned it feeling like their skin was sunburned after treatment.
How should I prepare for Vivace microneedling?
If you smoke, please quit prior to your treatment. Also, avoid using any Retin-A products and exposing your face to the sun for three days leading up to your treatment. On the day of treatment, do not apply makeup or skin care products before your appointment.
When can I see results of Vivace microneedling?
You will see initial results of microneedling within three to six weeks after treatment.
How long do the results last?
The longevity of your results depends on your unique skin, the condition we are treating, the number of treatments you undergo and your at-home skin care regimen. We can give you a more precise idea of how long your results will last during your in-person consultation and recommend how to prolong your results.
